A passionate community of home brewers based in the beautiful Macedon Ranges. We gather to brew, share, learn, and celebrate the craft of making great beer.

Who We Are

We're a friendly bunch of home brewers from across the Macedon Ranges — from Kyneton to Gisborne, Woodend to Romsey. Our members range from curious beginners to seasoned competition brewers, all united by a love of craft.

We meet monthly to trade tips and tastings. We run friendly brew comps to hone our skills. We host get-togethers to share our creations.

Come Brew With Us

Macedon Ranges Brew Club

We hold an informal club meet on the last Wednesday of each month at Holgate Brewhouse in Woodend. Club meets are a chance to catch up, share brew stories and taste each other's creations.

All are welcome, from old hands to amateurs.

Membership

While we never charge just for attendance to our monthly meetings (including the tastings!) we have created an optional $60 annual membership fee which helps support club activities and gives access to club projects. Here's a few benefits:

  • Barrel ProjectsAccess to our club barrel projects. We have one sour barrel and two ex-bourbon barrels which we fill each year, producing some special and quirky brews.

    Competitions & CommunityInvolvement in club competitions and the broader Victorian homebrew club scene. MRBC has enjoyed much success in statewide competitions, inter-club brew-offs and more.

Macedon Ranges Brew Club is once again running the homebrew competition for the Kyneton Show. This year will be bigger than ever with a whole host of prizes provided by our wonderful sponsors.

Categories

  • Pale Ales <7%
  • Dark Ales <7% — red ales and darker
  • Lagers <7% — any beer using lager yeast under 7%
  • Strong Beer >7% — any beer over 7%
  • Speciality Beer — any beer that doesn't fit the other categories: wheat beer, rye beer, fruit beer, sour beer, etc.
  • Cider — all items brewed primarily with fruit, cider, perry, etc.

The winner of each category will receive a bundle of prizes from Holgate Brewhouse, BeerCo and Backyard Homebrew Co. The best beer on show will receive a slab of beer of your choice from Rock & Ranges and the best aggregate brewer will receive a selection of yeast from Bluestone Yeast.

Entries close at 6pm on Tuesday 17th November, with judging on Thursday 19th November.

All entries will be on display at the Show on Friday and Saturday 20th and 21st November.
